 Fluke 77 multimeter

Hi, working on a Fluke 77 multimeter, on the volt/ohm input I have a
blown resistor/capacitor/choke. Looks about the size of a 1 watt
resistor with only two bands. One band is green the other is blue, can
anybody identify it for me?

Mike,
It is a SPECIAL 1Kohm Fusible resistor and the reason your
meter didn't melt down after it was overloaded. I've changed
several over the years. Fluke part number is 832550. I don't
know if you will get the same protection with a substitute.
BTW after changing the resistor it usually returns the unit
to perfect working
order.                                       Regards, Kevin

Dear Mike,

I can add some to Kevin's reply. It is a Fusible resistor being used as
a sort of fuse. For safety you should use an exact replacement. If not,
then at least find a METAL FILM replacement. It is 1Kohm, 2Watt, 2%. If
yours is a plain 77 (not series II or III) then my sevice manual gives
the Fluke part number as 854687. It is part number FA8466 from
a manufacturer with FSC=23237, but I do not know which one this is.

Good luck,
Prof. Ferguson
