Local construction companies will sell to you.. I found that our Lowes/Home
Depot didn't have the sizes I wanted... But anyhow, you should be able to
get a pretty large tube for $20 (8 feet long I think was the smallest size
they had)  So look in your phonebook and call some construction places to
see if they can sell you a Sono tube.

Rich,

I found that most sonotubes in hardware stores aren't thick enough to
remain rigid, especially for a 10". Having said that, I used 3
sonotubes from my local HW store. They fit snugly one inside the
other, so I glued them together. Even with that, they weren't as
sturdy as the original Meade sonotube that I replaced. But it has been
working out fine over the last few years.

Here are a couple of options that are more expensive but specially
made for telescopes:

Excellent tubes. Just be sure to tell them to not put the shipping label on the
tube itself.

Hi Rich,
One thing to keep in mind as you go in search of "10 inch" sonotube
is that the actual diameters of what are nominally ten inch tubes vary
a good deal in order to nest tubes for shipping.  Therefore you may be
best to buy a tube and measure it before getting too far down the road
with plans or modifications.
