Best place to see IZ comet near NYC?

Could anyone suggest a good place to see  comet I-Z  over the water not
too  far from New York City (1-2 hrs drive)  and not too much light from

nearby towns? I tried to look from the roof in the city with no success.

So I went to Fire Island yesterday and could not see anything because
when
you look over the water North there is lots of interference from the
lights of Long Island  in the North.

Roland mentioned the bay of Long Island. What town would I go to? Is
there
any specific place or beach where observing is good? What time is it
best
to observe it  today (april 17)?

Thanks so much,

I really want to see this comet before it fades,

Andre

I would recommend about 15 minutes before start of astronomical twilight.

It was in the middle of the gap between the main stars of Cassiopeia and
Cepheus.

As for the place . . . from Rochester, the lake's not bad and I was in Ionia
at 4AM. It looked really good, {*filter*} eye fuzz ball with a great core, bright
circular head and a tail that just keeps on coming. If you could get it in
binos or a scope, you'd see it, but the tail will grow the darker your site.

HAve fun,
Frank
