Pocono Mtn. Optics - don't do it!

For the second time, I've been screwed by Poconon Mtn. Optics.  They don't
stand behind what they sell! If you have a problem with a component, they
couldn't care less!!!

When I told the guy who answered the phone my problem, he RUDELY interrupted
me before I even finished describing it, and told me to call the manufacturer.
All he cared about was that I had called on the toll-free number and that he
was paying the phone bill for a call that did not involve my giving him a
credit card number.  When I asked if Pocono stood behind what they sell, he
said, "if you had called about it within one week, we might have axed (sic)
you to send it back."  Yeah, right, like it's my fault.

Well fine, Glenn!! My only regret is having spent several thousand dollars on
you in the past!  You won't get another dime, including my astronomy club's
budget for the next several years!!

Do yourself a favor, amateur astronomers, spend your money elsewhere!!!!!

Did you speak to Glenn personally?

I think what you said and how you said it says more about YOU than Pocono.

Sorry to hear your bad experience with Pronoco. But where are you going
to mail order from other than Pronoco ? Certainly NY dealers won't
be any better, so won't be WO. When you mail order and especially looking
for rock ottom prices, you can't expect first rate service at
the same time.

Glen and the rest at Pocono Mt. have always been very helpful and have
resolved problems quickly. With service like that they'll keep getting my
business.

Oops, I mean Pocono, not Pronoco.

I haven't been following this thread, but I have been buying from Pocono
for years. Always good advice, good prices, and good service. I second
Todd's comment--speak to Glenn.

You know, I have spent a lot of money there also--I haven't had any trouble,
but then I haven't tried to return anything either---Can you describe
your problem in more detail ??? I think the internet is a great way to
keep the profit makers honest and accountable--- Anyone else have trouble
with Pocono ????

This is all very strange. I've done plenty of business with Pocono, and
have never had any reason to complain. Glen is friendly, and if he's not
busy (which is seldom), he'll take time to talk with me, even if I'm not
buying that day.

I suspect there's been a misunderstanding. Calm down, and talk to Glen.

I disagree....then again, you never was specific about the complaint..
I have been dealing with Glenn for over 10 years and NEVER have I had a
problem. In fact, Glenn has done me favors and even acquired stuff for me
he normally DONT carry, even at a better price than the competitors.
If anyone has a problem, I believe it was YOU, when you called and he
detected you already had a hard-on for him. If you think EVERY dealer is
just out for the money, and{*filter*}the customer, you will never get
satisfaction....
I would call Glenn first before calling anyone else

I've been buying from Glenn for many years now and find that he is an
honest and reliable source of the best prices in astronomy gear. I
have had the occasion to return a defective product and he sent the
replacement out even before he received the original item back.

I note that the original post did not mention how long he had had the
defective product, but I can imagine that few retailers would be able
to do much if the item in question was more than a couple of months
old.

While I have run into a number of shysters in this business, Glenn
is definately NOT one of them!

Recently I ordered a motor drive for my Meade 4500, and since I had
purchased the scope Meade had changed the worm gear so that the drive
didn't fit.  I called Glenn, and he ordered a new one from Meade and
had the new gear shipped to me free of charge.  After I had tried out
the motor and had some problems with it, I decided to return it, with
no problem.

Just my experience
