 spherical lens instead of toric

In the past I've talked with my OD about whether I could handle a
spherical lens instead of a toric and the answer has been no but now I
really would like to use some cheap daily disposables for watersports
(waterskiing, etc.) since I've lost my two week torics before and am
not too hot about getting lake water in the lenses and using them
again.

My current torics are:
OD -2.25 Cyl -1.25  ax - 100
OS -2.00 Cyl -1.25  ax - 90

My glasses script is (I think)
OD -3.25 Cyl +1.25 ax not sure
OS -3.00 Cyl +1.00 ditto

I'm going to the doc to see about this but just off hand, what sphere
would be best to correct this?

Thanks
J

I'd guesstimate that a -2.75 or -3.00 would work.  You might want to try
one of the new aspheric planned replacement/disposable lenses in a -2.50
power for better vision at an only slightly higher cost.  Ask your doc
to fit you for whatever you need so that you can get a lens most
approriate for your activity. (Larger diameter lenses tend to stay in
better and ones with UV blocking would be a nice add-on.)

Using a single use or disposable lens for watersports and a "best
correction" soft toric or RGP lenses the rest of the time is a very
intelligent choice.  A washed-away one-day or disposable lens as you
know is far less expensive to replace than a toric or RGP.  You can
focus more on having fun than on your dwindling bank account that way.

Do remember to remove your lenses after the lake experience and dispose
or disinfect them.

I 'm pretty sure that you'll get satisfactory sports vision with
spherical lenses and your Rx. In fact 20/25 or 20/30 in each eye with
20/25 together is likely...try a trial pair!!

The perfect lens for watersports would be one of the daily disposable
lenses.  No need to disinfect just put on go skiing and throw out when
you are done.  They are like 25.00 for a 30 pack.  Much cheaper than
torics.

Your vision will not be as crisp but for waterskiing they should be
good enough.  You doctor should put a trial lens on and check the
power.  It will be in th -2.50 to -3.00 range.

you should be able to get at least 20/30 vision OU.  Thats good enough
to drive a car in Michigan but would not be very good for sports like
Tennis or Golf.
