 Palpebral Spring Pain: Advise Please

My father has a spring implant in his eyelid to correct for Bell's Palsy
which followed surgery for advanced acoustic neuroma.  He had excellent
surgical care, but in another part of the country.  His eye is giving him
a LOT of trouble 9 months after the surgeries.  Various and sundry eye
drops, contact bandages have not helped.  His cornea is saved but he is
miserable constantly.  Some reanimation of face is definately occuring.
What to do in the meantime?  Local opths don't have the answers and the
original surgeon can't assess over the phone. Your advice appreciated.
