You don't mention the condition for which you are taking resperidone. It
is usually prescribed for severe mental illness, such as
psychosis/schizphrenia, but is sometimes prescribed for "less serious"
conditions, such as ADHD.

As most psychiatric conditions run a long term course and need long term
medication, relapse is the biggest risk with ceasing medication. Relapse
(depending on the condition) may bring the need for  hospitalisation,
cause job loss, fionancial problems, family distruption, legal troubles,
personal distress, accidental injury and death, worsening of co-existing
medical illnesses, of course, and suicide.

I'd strongly advice you to talk to your doctor about these risks in some
detail and how they may impact on you. Never make a unilateral decision
to stop medications.

On an unrelated point, I believe it is ill-advised to give your phone
number when posting to newsgroup. You never know who could be reading
it. While most people are pleasant and helpful on the Net, there are a
few weirdos out there.

Yes resperdol, is the new wave of anti-psychotics and in fact it causes a whole
myraid of health problems. up to including death. the rate of iotrogenic
illness, with long term use of major nueroleptics is very high. some of these
at times fatal side effects, include malignent nuroleptic syndrome, nuroleptic
cardio-toxicity, actual brain damage associated with anti-psychotics are
tardive dyskenisia, and akinesia.
There are also heart failure, hepatic failure, renal failure, thyroid
dysfunction, and a whole host of other medical problems associated with the use
of anti-psychotics.

I suggest you consult a MD, or psychologist about seeking alternative
treatments, orthomolecular, jungian therapy, reichs organomy therapy, cognitive
behavi{*filter*}therapy.
and other forms of treatments.

It cant hurt, and you might actually save your life.
