depakote and thyroid activity

I have never heard of any association between Depakote (Valproate) and
hypothyroidism (Lithium, yes, that is well known to cause this). You
should check the Product Information for details. Adjusting the thyroid
meds would be a good idea under medical supervision and monitoring of
TSH. You can get hair loss with hypothroidism, but it is usually the
eyebrows and the hair and skin generally becomes drier. Valproate can
also cause hair loss (uncommon, but well documented).
