I'm not saying that zoloft doesn't work fine for a lot of people. For some it
even works best, But I speak from the experience of prescribing
antidepressants day in and day out for 12 years.
I get more complaints of side effects from that one than any other SSRI. I give
a try to most of the {*filter*} I prescribe (not the {*filter*}ive ones, or the {*filter*}
that are truly last ditch and have possible permanent side effects), so I can
undersatand what it is my aptients are trying to tell me. Personal as well
as professional experience: Zoloft sucks. Not for everyone, but enough that
it is not something I prescribe much.
Yeah, It's a pain in the {*filter*}to go back to your Family Practitoner or Shrink
and twist their arm until they hear what you are saying. I have a number of
happy campers after swithcing to one of the {*filter*} listed in response to similar
side-effects. If you want to stay on a SSRI, prozac is significantly gentler
for many people. Avoid Paxil if you have those side effects. THe problem with
wellbutrin and serzone is you need to start low and increase the dose
gradually; but you can push the dose nicely if you do it right. They are also
supposed to be prescribed as twice-a-day {*filter*}. (you can actually give a full
day's dose of serzone at bedtime only if you do it right).
