Fluoxetine's effects on memory retention in the amygdala

Hello, my name is Keri Knapp and I am an undergrad in psychology at
Indiana-Purdue in Ft.Wayne, IN. I am writing in hopes that someone out
there may know where I can find any documented research on fluoxetine
and its effects on memory retention in the amygdala. if anyone knows of

Fluoxetine's effects on memory retention in the amygdala

It is probably more correct to speak of the amygdala's role in
translating emotional stimulus-response associations into events
elsewhere in the brain--via one route to autonomic reactions, via
another route to overt behavi{*filter*}and/or cognitive reactions.  Like the
hippocampus, it may be essential for forming memories, but not for
storing them.

Joseph LeDoux (you could contact him or colleagues at the New York
University Center for Neural Science) has done much of the work
outlining these processes.  I think there has been work re role of NMDA
in memory formation by the amygdala, but haven't seen any re
5-HT--however, I haven't looked that systematically.

Another name comes to mind: Fanshow? Faneshow? Fanselow?  (the last one
looks better than the first two, but may still be wrong!)  (in
California) would be a good source also; try Medline search on him as
well.

Hail fellow IPFW'er.  The best resource is right down I-69. Contact
Lilly and ask them. Look on their website for a department that sounds
something like Professional Practices, and then ask them.  The other
possibility is that the package insert might have somebody to talk to.
