Does anyone have any information/opinions on the use of Lamictal for
depression or bipolar disorder?  Has anyone tried it?

Elizabeth,
Did you titrate (start at a low dose and go up) the initial doses to
prevent the reported skin rashes? Also, how about weight gain? Have you
experienced any, and/or is that one of the side effects?    -rjr-

I started out on low doses of lamictal and effexor.  I am bipolar and a
very rapid cycle and am resistive to most {*filter*} the{*filter*}combination
held me in check for four months. during the last three months I had my
meds increase to 600 lamital and 225 effexor.
I don't know what is instore for me now. my doc is a psychiatrist how I
can call anytime for help. we even use a psycopharmecologist to help
but  the change in meds doesn't last long for me.
when my meds fail all i think about is suicide.  i tried  to do it five
years ago but was found unconscious within an hour of taking the
overdose.
yes i've had weight gain and like others the dry mouth syndrom.

What are you taking it for?

I am taking Zyprexa for mood swings (mainly short-term (1 day or so)
depressive-like states) right now - i think it's helping some, but not enough,
and i don't want to take a higher dose because of the side effects.  I tried
Depakote a while ago and that didn't seem to do anything.

Has anyone else had these kinds of symptoms (mood swings without mania or
hypomania) and had any luck treating them?  If so, how?
