 Zoloft:are any side effects permanent

I have been searching everywhere and even talked to the company. I have a
male friend how has been prescribed zoloft but doesn't want to take it
due to the possibility of an{*filter*}a and impotence. His major concern is
that 'if these AEs do occur -- will they remit on discontinuation?' I
have been unable to help him find the information he needs to make an
informed decision and would appreciate an answer from someone with some
expertise. References would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance,

Fluoxetine, an SSRI (like sertraline) is being used for premature
ejaculation so yes there is a possibility of an{*filter*}a.  The
question is, how much is he supposed to take and why?

I am  psychiatrist of 25 years experience and would be loath to take
Zoloft due to the side effects unless prescribed by a psychiatrist.
These side effects are tempory and there is no reason to think your
friend would be permanently affected .

That would seem to suggest that the side effects are less serious
when Zoloft is prescribed by psychiatrist?????

I don't believe that any of sertraline's effects are permanent although
there is a documented withdrawal phenomenon (worse with paroxetine).  In
my experience almost all SSRIs cause some degree of {*filter*} dysfunction.

I agree with the dysfunction thing but its quite bearable after a period with a willing
friend or spouse. Can you or someone describe the withdrawal phenomenon please?
this is important to myself and a friend.
