All Good Work Is Done in Defiance of Management

Sorry if you consider this off topic, but I don't think it is.

There are few truly brilliant ideas, and you might be lucky to have one or
two in a lifetime. If you have one, don't let it die a gentle death because
of some lazy manager or shortsighted company.
Keep in mind the words of Bob Woodward of The Washington Post: "All good
work is done in defiance of management."
Business guru Tom Peters says that going to company management sometimes is
the worst thing you can do. Find others who share your enthusiasm for the
idea and get it moving forward, even if you have to do it on your own time.
Once it gets some momentum, present it to management. Then if your company
doesn't want it, look elsewhere.

Hope for the best, forget the worst, and expect something in between -- then
you will usually get something at least as good as you expect.
