Zoloft/Prozac Side Effects

 Zoloft/Prozac Side Effects

 1.  Is there such thing as excessive teeth grinding or involuntary jaw
muscle movement with Prozac.  I've been taking 20 mg. for 7 months, and
this seems to be in the last three months.  Is this tension...and should I
take more Prozac?  I'm taking for PMS/Anxiety Disorder.  (I also have
TMJ.)
2.  My boyfriend has also started taking an antidepressant
(coincidentally?).  He has gained 20 lbs. and is drowsy during the
afternoon.  He takes 50 mg. Zoloft; his motivation hasn't improved (as
much as mine).

Any ideas/comments?

I have seen this side-effect mentioned rather frequently by people on
alt.support.depression who are taking Prozac.  Well, this was a few years
ago, but I know several people reported it.  If you post over there about
it you may get confirmation from others.  I'd double check with your
prescribing MD, but if it were I, I wouldn't up my dose based on this
effect.  You might want to discuss this with your dentist, too.  Do you
wear a nightguard for your TMJ problems?  If not, now might be the time
to start.  (I have TMJ stuff, too.)

I have gained weight on Prozac and am fighting not to do the same on
Zoloft.  Some people lose weight on SSRIs, others gain.  Also, some
people get revved up and others get drowsy.  I'd suggest he check with
his prescibing MD but also consider the possibility of timing the taking
of his Zoloft so the sleeping period coincides with the time (night?)
when he wants to be sleepy.

SSRIs can take a while to kick in.  It took me 3-6 weeks to get the full
benefit from first Prozac and then Zoloft.  Maybe his motivation will yet
improve.

Good luck to both of you.
