 Zoloft->Serzonme->Zoloft (help!)

Let me state up front that my new doctor, provided to me by a well-meaning
but obviously profit-loving HMO is pretty lost with this.

Brief hx: I was on Zoloft for several years, got married and suddenly ran
into problems with the reduced libido (I wasn't the word's most ambitious
playboy while I was single). I heard about Serzone and tried it after a
weekend off Zoloft on the advice of my doctor. I went with increasing
dosages from 200-500mg over about six weeks. It had lots of effects, none
of them particularly desirable. (I'd rather keep the details of out of
this public posting). I got so sick (emotionally and physically) over
Christmas weekend, I stopped taking it (after doing the 500mg regimin for
about a week). When I called my doctor today, he said just to go back to
my 50mg of Zoloft.

First off, is this a safe transition? I went through hell for about three
weeks (maybe longer) coming off the Zoloft. Will I be going through the
same thing again going back on?

Secondly, I've heard about treatments where small doses of each can be
effective with depression w/o the libido effects. Is this really true?
Thanks to the ironic paradox of the insurance system, I now have plenty of
both meds on hand. The doctor, who I'm not scheduled to see for another
six weeks, seems pretty amenable to whatever I want to do. My insurance
does not pay for psychiatric outpatient visits (but the coverage is
excellent once I'm hospitialized).

If you have any information or can relay any personal experience, cc: to

Thanks,

Ric

I don't think it's dangerous. If you didn't have a rough time going on
it the first time then you probably won't again, but you probably will
if you ever have to go off it again, going off it is sometimes rougher
for some people. Smaller doses will have less of an effect on your
libido since obviously it's a smaller dose, if you're lucky the small
dose won't effect your libido but it'll probably effect it somewhat
but to a lesser degree.

What!? Have they already invented space shuttles that can go to
another planet? Wow, the technology today. If he is on this planet I
would sure like his address he may be the only one here.
