Anyone know of anything I can take to stop this annoying side effect?  I
get up at least 3 times a night urinate.  I feel like I have to push a
bit to help myself void and then it seems my bladder doesn't quite empty
fully afterwards.  It makes me feel like I am in my last months of
pregnancy again!!!!  :)

Any help would be appreciated.

This is a direct consequence of the drug's pharmacological actions.
{*filter*} with alpha-adrenergic activity like phentermine (and even pseudo-
ephedrine and phenylpropanolamine, common decongestants used for colds and
allergies) increase the tone of the urinary sphincter, thereby increasing the
force required of the bladder to overcome its resistance.  The net effect
is what you're experiencing.  In fact, this side effect is sometimes
exploited for women with stress incontinence by administering a cold/allergy
pill containing a decongestant like phenylpropanolamine (tightens up the
sphincter) along with an anticholinergic antihistamine like ChlorTrimeton
(relaxes the tone of the bladder.)

I'd talk to the doctor who prescribed this for you.  Phentermine has a
rather long half-life (20 hours or so), so it tends to persist in your
body well past your bedtime; in fact, it accumulates to a steady state after
a few days of daily administration.  Perhaps taking a lower daily dose
could avoid this, and if this is only a problem at bedtime, you might
ensure you take it early enough in the morning.  There are other "cousins"
of phentermine which have shorter half-lives.  Finally, there are some {*filter*}
which can directly or indirectly offset the effects of phentermine on the
sphincter, but I doubt they'd be used here rather than adjusting the dose
or eliminating the drug.
