Hm What are the protein fraction in the high-protein diet? Why I ask
is because there was published some years ago about taurine/SOx ration
in urine and calcium release in Chinese young men at different protein
intake and cysteine intake. Starting at 10% protein, the ratio is 10%
of total sulphur is from taurine, while addition of 5 mmol cystein
increase it to 30%. At 25% protein, the ratio is 30% while cysteine
addition do lower it to 20% and at 40% the ratio is back to about 10%
and the amount of sulphurcomponents is quite high in urine. Btw 10%
and 25% proteine, the amount of calcium increases somewhat but much
more from 25% protein to 40%, much more than increase in sulphur, but
mostly parallell to total sulphur - taurine sulphur.
