 sputum specimen collection
Your link just brings me to AOL.
Just as well, I didn't really look forward to finding a whole collection
:-))

 sputum specimen collection
You have to copy and paste the address into the space that comes up when
you click on the link if you're not an AOL user (which many people aren't
by the way).  Then you press the FIND button.  Then it comes up with one
page.  THEN you click on that page and THEN you get the sputum collection
directions.  Gee Gil, isn't there something you can do to shorten this
procedure for non-AOL users?

I can't imagine using this technique with an elderly confused nursing home
patient.  My mother-in-law desperate needed a sputum culture run, as she
was in a nursing home (a stroke patient) and had much congestion and stuff
rattling around in her chest with a slight fever.  It was unknown whether
she could even understand what you were saying to her half of the time.
She was also physically too debilitated to cough even once, let alone the
seven times that is recommended in the procedure.  These are the people you
need sputum specimens on and short of intubating them this would never
work.  If I were sick and worn out from pneumonia and someone came in my
room and told them I had to cough seven times I might tell them where to
go!!!  Does this really work?  How many people tell you to go fly a kite?
