 Need HELP with HIVES, SOS!!!

Dear friends, help!

I've been struggling (suffering is a better word) with hives for the last
three months.
Before it started I drank Kombucha tea for about two months. I stopped
taking it after the second trip to the emergency room.
I' don't know if it's related ...

I'm now on a huge dose of antihistamines (350 mg. a day, 14 !!! pills)
and Zantac. It keeps it somewhat under control, but I still get hives
every day, I just don't get the huge flair-ups anymore.
An allergist told me that it could very well be the kombucha, however, he
thinks
I've had
it now for almost 3 months...

Also, the hives  "burn"  and "hurt" more than they itch now and are often
accompanied by a strong pain in my chest.
I'm not sure that that's how heartburn feels, but something like that.
Sometimes my feet swell and hurt so much that I can barely walk...

Any suggestions, ideas?
Thanks in advance,
Sophia

 Need HELP with HIVES, SOS!!!
I have been suffering from the same thing all year. It may have started
through eating too many apricots and tomatoes over the summer, but I seem
to react to many foods including those containing salicylates. I get a
similar chest pain- not always at the same time as hives and less
frequently than hives. This pain 'appears' to be a cramping of my
oesophagus, and as far as I know, is not the same thing as heartburn.
I get this chestpain within hours of usimg polyurethane as well as at
other times.

I too would be interested in hearing from anybody who has some answers.
For what it is worth though, here is the little bit I have gleaned (in a
nutshell).

Most books I read point to stress overload as the culprit for hives and
other allergic reactions. The body copes with stress fairly well but
eventually the adrenal system may become weakened and overwhelmed and
then any foods which cause even minor stress can cause allergic
reactions.

The search for particular allergens can be disheartening. I was living on
chicken, pealed pears, water and potatoes and still getting hives
occasionally. Recently I have gone back to antihistamines and some old
eating habits and trying to get on with my life. However if you have not
yet tried eliminating certain foods, I suggest you try... it may work for
you. Certainly you should be able to reduce your anti-histamine intake.
There are plenty of books on allergies which cover hives.. I'll look up a
few and post them soon.

Good luck
