I'm a young computer professional in the Boston area, and for about a year
I've suffered a series of conditions that almost destroy my life. They think
it could be Lyme, but the doctors treating me have been everything but
helpful.  Time passes and I am feeling even worst, seeing my life going down
the drain, and I am tired of patiently waiting for the doctors to actually
start caring about my health.

I enjoyed your website and I'll probably show it to my doctor & family to
validate my complaints - they still seem to think I can just get over this if I
try hard enough.

I got a kick out of the part about making people wait in line while you tried
to remember how to fill out a check  - it reminded me of the time I was writing
a check & they requested my phone number for the check - I couldn't remember,
so we had to look it up in the phone book. Everyone in that store looked at me
with a kind of "what's-wrong-with-her?" stare.

Your site convinced me that you have the same disease I have & I have Lyme. My
initial {*filter*} test was negative, but thanks to this newsgroup, I knew enough
not to treat the test as gospel. I also had been through about 10 doctors by
then & finally found one who would listen & at least humor me if I wanted to
try something.  Together, we decided that it would be worse if I had lyme that
wasn't treated than if it was something else & I went through antibiotic
therapy.

I eventually did have some positive {*filter*} & urine tests for lyme after I went
to a doctor who had a lot of experience with lyme.  I was diagnosed 15 months
ago & believe me - getting diagnosed is not the end of your struggles &
frustrations.

Good luck & keep an eye on this ng - it's great for when you think you're all
alone & that nobody understands. Another word of advise: continue to keep a
detailed diary of symptoms, etc. Most of us can't  count on our memories
anymore.
