Lyme disease is treated with antibiotics because it is caused by
infection with a bacteria called borrelia burgdorferi (Bb). Symptomatic
treatment is apporpriate to minimize any pain and discomfort a patient
experiences, however, the mainstay of treatment is antibiotics.
Here is a reference to Dr Burrascano's treatment protocols. His farily
comprehensive essay discusses diagnosis and management of Lyme and some
other common tickborne disorders which sometimes occur along with or
instead of Lyme disease--but are transmitted by the bite of the same
tick:

Well did one's symptoms all begin following infection? If so, either
you are one unlucky person who happened to get several diseases at once
or it is Lyme perhaps accompanied by 'coinfection' with another
tickborne disease contracted through the same tick bite or at the same
time as one became infected with one tick bite in an endemic or
hyperendemic area, perhaps one was bitten by more than one tick at the
same time.
It would be highly unusual for someone to coincidentally have developed
say cancer or some other disease simultaneously with the Lyme--
especially for a previously healthy, immunocompetent person.

I am wondering if you called the American Lyme Disease Foundation (no
help at all) or the Lyme Disease Foundation (very helpful, wonderful
organization and people). Not all Lyme Disease organizations are
created equal.
Well who does? My MD is willing to learn from a good Lymes

The Lymes disease foundation said it

Again, this sounds like the ALDF, not the LDF. Basically the theory
that Lyme is a 'self limited' disease is a Flat Earth Theory. Even if
it does happen in some cases, why would one risk it? Everyone agrees
that the possible consequences of untreated disease are serious, even
if they don't agree how serious or how frequently the occur. Get
treatment and don't find out what might happen if you went untreated.
Many people have a tough enough time despite being treated...
I hate most {*filter*} because they

Well you say that you got your information from the 'Lyme Foundation.'
That is not the 'medical community.' Both the ALDF (bad) and the LDF
(good) are organizations run by laypeople.
You say that your doctor is willing to learn from a good source
(provided above). That doesn't sound like 'being ignored.'
However, you would be better served to find a support group near you
and get a referral to a LLMD (Lyme Literate MD) and skip the whole
learning curve of your current physician. To find a support group go to
