 Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever

Anyone out there who has been diagnosed or treated for Rocky Mountain Spotted
Fever? I have small circular red rashes on my lower torso including legs,
thighs abdominal areas. It started light red and now is darker red. They are not
little bulls eyes, but different shapes. My internest who is Lyme literate,
says it looks like RMSF, but I have no symptoms. Any thoughts? I will be
getting tested, but I need to know others experiences. I am reading about
transmission from people sneazing and I am exposed to sick people all of the
time. This should be interesting.....

Joan,

I was finally diagnosed as also having RMSF (and HGE) in 1997 - after being ill
with known LD since summer, 1994.  I kept getting the type of rashes you are
describing - they were awful, mostly on arms & legs...the ENTIRE arms & legs.

When the testing came back highly positive for RMSF & HGE, I was immediately
put on 600 mg. daily of Doxycycline.  From that point on, tho I'd get extremely
ill every 3 to 4 weeks, the good days became better and there were more of
them.

I didn't feel anywhere near "well" until about March 2000 - I am doing much
better tho not 100% of what I used to be.

In Feb. 2000, an MD gave me heavy doses of Augmentin for a sinus infection I'd
probably gotten from my Sister - she had just died from a sinus infection in
Feb. 2000, so my MD was not taking any chances with me.  After the Augmentin, I
did a huge turn-around and have been progressively doing better ever since.

I am not taking any medications except for pain meds now and then.  Pain -
mostly neurological pains - is still a problem.
