Question on Antibiotics Reaction, Time Periods

My wife started {*filter*}Zithromax & Plaquenil 4 weeks ago (After a 3 Year
battle with Doctors, well known to Lymies).  Her question, is there a
general length of time on how long a reaction (if any) is supposed to
last?  Her 3rd and 4th week have really been the pits.  More or less, if
the treatment is going to work...how long before you SHOULD start feeling
any better.

Thanks a lot.  First time posting, but I (probably a lot out there) have
been reading this board for over a year.  Thanks for any help.

Not that I know much of this, having only had Azithromax for five days
(the quick fix treatment package for Syphilis), bu I got a very different
Herx from that antibiotic:  just tore up my tendon in one of my legs.
Funy how I don't see anyone here complaining about recurring tendonitis:
I've had that since 1979.  Very intersting phenomena it was too...didn't
do any exercise and suddenly big time tendonitis in my forearms when
lifting a couple boxes!

Another interesting thing I just found out:  two years ago after I had
that bad experience with Azithromax, I had a super, super bad crisis.  In
desperation, I took Quinine (the generic over-the-counter stuff).  Just
two days ago, I found out that the FDA had now directed that Quinine be
removed from the OTC available {*filter*}!!
Shit!  It saved my life.  They claim now (after what...a hundred years of
quinine being available...that it is "dangerous" and is no longer
effective against malaria!
Plaquenil (sp.?) is chlorocoQUININE.  It's the "cooler" as far as I can
tell...
maybe the amount of Plaquenil could be increased safely...maybe worth a
try... ask the treating physician.  Let us know if it works out or
whatever.

Good Luck!

You know, I noticed this too Dave.  One of my early symptoms (after
respiratory screw-up) was acute tendonitus in my ankles requiring physical
therapy.  And, upon starting the IM Penicillin two months ago, I got
another {*filter*} tendonitus in my right elbow from nothing in particular.
Hard to say if it was a herx (the timing was right) or just another in the
continuing saga of annoying Lyme sxs

Gotta go with the flow, things change you know.

Used to get that in my wrists but since being treated it stopped.  I guess
the bugs learned their lesson because they seem to prefer bursitis now.

I took the liberty of changing the re. on this one.  Hope you all don't
mind.

Tendonitis - I thought that was just a given!  Each and every tendon has
taken its turn.... from the shoulders (a biggie) to the ankles, achilles
tendon, carpal tunnel, everywhere....

what about the spontaneous "shin splints" that come out of nowhere -
minus the strenuous (sp?) exercise, etc....  anybody else get that?  I
would be walking and "oh, my shin splints are bothering me" - why of
course, everybody gets shin splints walking across the ktichen, don't
they?  that really bugged me...  (no pun intended)
