SSD wanted what they referred to as a "mental exam" ( I thought that was cute)
which consisted of the WAIS ( {*filter*} IQ test...)

you will be happy to know that I still have a good vocabulary.

However I did really lousy on those" put the blocks together to make the
same design you see on the page" test.

and I used to breeze through those.I felt incredibly stupid and even
started crying with frustration at one point.
I also couldn't count by threes real well and I had a hell of a time doing
simple math in my head ( although that has been there forever)

and I couldn't remember any of the details of the stories he told me.

very upsetting I used to test between 125-130 consistently.......I bet I
reached about 90 this time around.

I feel stupid and fat.

Rufie, But that tests validates that something has "happened to you" and that
is what you need right now to get help and disablility .I hope you find a
treatment that helps you.

Many of us Lymies have a really good idea how you might be feeling. Hang in
there. There IS life after Lyme, my husband and I are living proof. The mental
sharpness CAN come back. You are ill with Lyme-you are NOT stupid. (STUPID is
reserved for certain Lyme-illiterate doctors <grin>). There is  BIG difference.

May you soon have many brighter days.

stupid you are not, frustrated and angry you are. this disease takes away how
we have dealt with, handled and responded to things our whole lives. the
hardest thing is to be know what we want our body and mind to do and have it
not do it. just relax and figure out different way to deal with stuff. it will
work. i love this "i finally got my head together and my body fell apart" how

no, you are not stupid!!!  and you are not
as fat as i am! (have gained 85 lbs)  besides
if they keep misdiagnosing people, pretty
soon everyone will be just like us, so we
will be considered "normal" again!!!

hey!! I never thought of it that way!!

hmmmm this misdiagnosing business may explain the decline in quality of
Hollywood movies, TV, Politicians, and just about everything else.....

and since we have gotten treatment perhaps we'll end up being the geniuses
of the country.

what I really need to get a grip on this week, however is Lyme depression
....I guess that what it is..it just came out of the blue about a week ago
after a rather active and ok period, and now I am down in the depths with
the
Jersey Blues Again.

Jersy... no wonder.  Look as appealing as it may be we can't balme everything
on these worms.  

But, I too sunk into funk last week.  Wicked humidity seems to really hit me
(from a guy who used to eat up heat like Oprah on pancakes) these days.  But
today with the clear sun... boom, I snapped right out of it.  Try explaining
that to a civilian, eh?

Hello everyone,
Could you please tell me the symptoms you have been
experencing?
My daughter has become ill and everything adds up except she
has a severe ear pressure. Tests have been run but so far
nothing.
She does have an elevated white count,more extensive {*filter*}
tests are being done now.
Any answers would be greatly appreciated

Rufie you are not stupid!  You know what is stupid?  Lyme Disease! Ha!
Please do not feel bad about that test.  It is just a test.  Although
it does not seem like it now, you will not feel this way forever.  And
we all have down days from Lyme because it sucks and it is so all-
encompassing physically and mentally.  But you are not alone, and we
understand how you feel.  In the meantime, do what I do, "visualize
their demise" (the Lyme spiros!).

ear pressure could be due to nerve involvement, or swelling due to allergies
related to Lyme...ear pressure used to lead to severe headaches for me...b

yep, that's how it is with me too. i am in
a total and very painful slump right now.
