 OT: Question About Sleep Apnea

This may be completely off-topic, but a Google search indicates that
this might be the right place to start.  My 19-year-old son has
obstructive sleep apnea due to overweight.  He uses a Controlled
Positive Air Pressure (CPAP) machine.  The problem is that the
transitional studies program he is in is planning a wilderness trip to
Alaska this summer, and will be in an area where there is no line
current available.  My question is whether there are any
battery-powered CPAP machines.

A Google search shows that the group sci.med.diseases.lyme is one of
the groups that gets hits on 'sleep apnea'.  I assume that this means
that sleep apnea is sometimes associated with Lyme disease.  (I did
read the FAQ, and it didn't explicitly mention sleep apnea, but did
refer in passing to a bewildering variety of symptoms sometimes due to
Lyme.)  Is this group sci.med.diseases.lyme a reasonable place to post
questions about sleep apnea, not due to Lyme disease or Chronic
Fatigue Syndrome?  Is anyone aware of a better electronic resource for
questions about obstructive sleep apnea?

Thank you.

The sleep apnea due to Lyme is neurological sleep apnea, not obstructive.
Contact the hospital or the dealer/factory of your son's current life support equipment to ask for battery-powered alternatives.

BTW I just Googled for :

battery "sleep apnea"

And I got a plethora of OT hits.
It seems to be quite a setup you need, such devices consume a lot of energy.
We seem to be talking car batteries here.
And you need a charger, a backup etc.
