pegasys vs pegintron- Am I missing the obvious?

this is my first time posting, first I want to thank everyone for the
support you provide in this group.

I have seen several posts stating that Pegasys is better than
pegintron. Is it true? I can't find any info that compares the two
directly.
The closest I have found is comparing the pegasys presentation from
hcvadvocate.org and the info on the pegintron website.

the presentation about pegasys (from EASL)on hcvadvocate.org, and on
the page about genotype 1 (I am genotype 1) the overall SVR results

only info I can find with the same dose) wouldn't this mean that
pegintron is slightly better? Would I get better results if my doctor

better? what am i missing?

sorry if i am missing the obvious, but I can't figure it out, and I am
trying to decide the best treatment. my doctors appointment is around
the corner and I want to make sure I understand everything (this stuff
gets very confusing)

thx for any all info.
best of love and hope to all!
Nancy

very confusing indeed. i have been waiting for pegasus to get approval in
canada. it is 'supposed' to be better than the schering product but the
margin of 'better' may not really be enough for you to wait for. i am a
relapser so every extra 5% is worth it. If you are a first time user you
will do well to ask for 'induction' dosing of Schering pegintron with
ribavirin (unless pegasus and ribavirin are available to you). Induction
dosing is the highest does you can stand for 1 month then 'normal' dosing
for the remainder of the term.....which is determined by your initial
response (if you clear the virus early you can get by with a six month
course). always get a good hepatologist to make those recomendations though.
GPs are likely not the best ones to make those choices for you.

Those success numbers are misleading.  51%-pegasys (clinical trials only)
and 48% peg intron....what they don't tell you is 50% (apx) of the 51-48%
relapse.  Therefore the real number is apx 25%.

I already had gone through a year of everyday shots.  Now I'm on peg.
Immediately neg. for virus....Immediately positive the month I went off the
drug the first time.

Either way its the only chance we have.  As far as I'm concern, this is my
last shot with this shit.

Relapse......well....that has always been
the worry...or do people simply not
clear....& the meds keep the HCV below the level of detection....Good luck with
your TX...I think there will be better
meds some day.....We can only hope
....
