Oh yeah. I've got perrty distressing skin problems. Slowly growing rashes which
kinda of look like welts and itch like crazy. I am experiencing sleeplessness
along with this. My doc told me to try taking benadryl - helps sleeping
sometimes, no effect on skin. After I posted on this ng several folks suggested
that the rashes were fungal. My doc ignored this so I'm am using lotrimin af
twice a day and it is slowly improving the skin problem. Cetaphil has a
soothing effect as well. I've been on combo for four months. Pass on any info,
Dave

dave --- another huge thing that ppl don't realize is that candida yeast is a
major cause of the skin irritations, along w/bile salts but go to your local
healthfood store and ask them about the yeast!  it really wreaks havoc and ppl
have no idea that this is the real reason why --- especially when you say that
the antifungal cream is helping you

did i tell you all this before?  ha!  my memory is soooooo useless but in case
i didn't, check it out

it's absolute torture to be itchy every single second of every single day ----
try to kill that candida before ya go nutso!  LOL

I've had skin problems since the first week of combo.

The Combo Survival Guide at
http://www.jacksonwalter.com/hcv/comboguide.htm has good advice under
their Skin Care topic.

Things I have had to do:

Switch from my usual deodorant soap to a moisturizing soap.

Use a lotion after every bath/shower.  Sometimes reapply between baths.

I have gotten fungal infections and use lotrimin for that.

I have riba rash - its like bug bites that really itch.  Use benadryl
gel on that.

For my head, I got some shampoo with lavender and mint - the improvement
in my hair and scalp has been remarkable.

Any kind of cut or scratch takes longer to heal - so I keep anti-biotic
creams and bandaids available for those.

Some days it seems like I spend a ridiculous amount of time applying
different lotions, but if I don't, I'm sorry later.  The time taken to
apply all these different lotions is well spent.

I also have mouth sores.  I have found that using the mouth rinse
Peroxyl is great for that!!!

riba rash. interesting name. that's the worst skin problems i've had after
8mo combo and they do itch at times. my doctor gave me some compounded creme
that works but it's in the bedroom, my wifes asleep.(3rd shifter.) i'll post
the prescription later, it's a little expensive.

So glad someone mentioned getting thyroid test re this itching problem since
I have a doc appointment tomorrow.

For my itching I've tried everything, but I have settled recently on a
strange product called "Udderly Smoooth."  I found it in a Genovese chain
drug store, though it is advertised as being for healing of cow teats.  I
think the active and effective ingredient in it is lanolin oil, but at least
it is not a drug that is defined by its main desired effect and side effects
that are undesired.  It was only $4.50 for a large container.

Yes! An under-active thyroid causes dry itchy skin!
