 Kava-Kava
I smoked some when I was 13 yrs old.  I liked it better than smoking catnip
from what I can remember.  When I got older and a bit more refined (at 17) I
tried Kava Kava tea.  I didn't like it though, it made me feel both "up" and
"down" at the same time.  Over the years I've noted that women tend to like
it more than men.

I became allergic to catnip for quite a few years, but not as bad recently I
notice when I have to wack weeds.  I have become increasingly allergic to
cats although they have always liked me.

I thought I found some ginseng growing wild once, but it turned out to be
sarsparilla.  That was still to my delight, but I was looking and not
gathering.

I gathered a bunch of the red fuzzy Sumac tops on some occasions and made
iced tea with sugar, honey and lemon much to the horror of my friend's
parents and mine as they swore up and down we were drinking Poison Sumac.
It tasted very good and we never even got sick.  Way better than booze, hey?

A friend of mine who's usually wigged out on some crisis in her life tried
to tell my girlfriend how much Kava kava helps her.  I says, "Yeah, she
really got herself together... not"

Aloha Kaavi,

Pehea oe?

I've just had 2 lovely big purple-stemmed Awa plants put in the ground
in my backyard. I can't wait until they get big enough to use the root
from them, instead of buying KavaKava extract and capsules (at least
I'll know where mine came from and the conditions they're growing
under). Bunny poop and sunshine, not much else. :) Of course _lots_ of
rain, too.

I had a huge piece of root from an Awa plant cut from the Puna Forest
Reserve in Nanawale, and used it for manymany years, but finally it got
so dried up and old that I discarded what was left of it.

Hope all is well in your world - do you use KavaKava, and if so, can you
get it OK in the health cooking.net">food stores over there? I'm sure it must be
available all over, eh?

take care,
aloha pumehana,
