The "Best" cancer care anywhere? HA!

The "Best" cancer care anywhere? HA!

Don't be swayed by the hype and the endowments and the fancy Eastside
location in NYC and the savvy media coverage. This is MSKCC's forte',
not curing people.

Sloan-Kettering can treat you just as indifferently, just as ineptly,
and be just as willing to be done with you and go on to their next
cash cow as any other cancer mill in the US.

Sloan-Kettering is a cancer mill, and they depend on the hype and
the prestige and the fear of the public to keep their place in the
heirarchy of medicine.

They won't return your calls, even emergency calls from doctors
treating you in emergency situations, and in general be unavilable for
anything but the next paying customer from out of town who thinks he
is getting " The best cancer care anywhere".

You can get pushed aside and overlooked and ignored and put on the
back burner anywhere, I should have stayed home.

This is my bitter lesson and experience with MSKCC over four years.
Whoever judges institutions and declares Sloan #1 should not be from
the NIH or any other organization in league with MSKCC, or even from
New York.

I experienced some of this in seeking a second opinion there. The doctor,
after being entirely dismissive, failed to notify me when biopsy results
came back with a different diagnosis.  I think the entire medical system has
become overwhelmed. In prior treatment at HSS,  also considered tops,
rudeness seemed to be the norm but I considered this a cut above NYU, where
my tumor was diagnosed as a ganglion cyst, which would "go away."

I have finally been treated with what appears to be some competence and
caring at Mt Sinai. BTW, my diagnosis evolved several times since I started
on this odyssey, Much to my amazement, I've learned this is not so unusual.
