I think this is a good research protocol but I would NOT advise all
three except on a research study -- since there is no proven value of
the combination and it has the potential for increased side effects (low
{*filter*} counts & diarrhea).

Dear M.D.s and medical doctors,

Just out of interest, how on earth
do you have time to patrol these
newsgroups ?

I mean who's actually paying your bills ?

Are you altruistic humanists doing it
in your spare time, or is it part of your
job ?

Yrs

Alec

PS what are the initials that mean medically qualified
orthodox professional MD  ? MVD  ?

I can't answer for others, but I believe my time spent on this newsgroup
weeding out spam is my public service. I am neither paid for my time nor
receive money under other circumstances (ie. endor{*filter*}ts, etc.)

I myself am a resident in pathology - full MD, but not a fully
functioning specialist as yet.  I frequent this newsgroup for multiple
reasons, but mostly for intelligent discussion on the topic of cancer
(Henry, is that you?) outside of my own institution.  What little input
I have is directed to informing physicians and public alike - time well
spent in my book.

I was a little skeptical at first myself.  Then I noticed that Dr. Roda isn't
the only one that monitors the different newsgrous.  There are others,
especially on the other cancer newsgroups.

You have to give him credit for one thing, he does give straight forward
advice.  No sugar coating, just clear concise facts.  Take it or leave it.

I guess we aren't cutting into his tee time.  He doesn't send you a bill.  Most
doctors wouldn't give us the time of day without sending us a fee for a
consultation for time info.

I have lost almost all faith in the medical profession, but for now trying to
keep thinking that maybe there are a few who went into medicine because they
wanted to help sick people and not just to make a quick easy buck.

Maybe he's afraid to leave us to our own devices with all of the quacks and con
artists on the web.  Some of this stuff on the web is weird to say the least.

Time will tell................

I think "many" would be more fair than "most".  Remember that not all Doctors
are up to speed with computers yet.  There are probably a lot that would be
here if they knew more about computers, the internet, and usenet.

I am in the computer industry and I spend a significant amount of my time
helping others with problems within my expertise.  If I was in medicine, I'd
certainly offer some of my time on usenet.  As a former patient, I offer help
to people who have gone through similar diagnosis and treatments as I have.

I am grateful that Dr. Roda spends some of his time here.  I have seen a few
other MD's offering free advice on internal Compuserve forums, and applaud them
as well.

A QUICK, EASY buck?

Surely their must be easier ways to make money than spending 10 years in
pre-med,
medical school, residency, etc....

All this discussion sounds very funny for me. In my country is becoming
a medical doctor the most sure way to stay poor.
