 HELP: adenocarcinoma lung cancer

My mom was diagnosed with lung adenocarcinoma 4 years ago and underwent a
successful surgery to remove the cancer together with the left lower lobe of
the lung. However, recently, the cancer comes back. She just had a surgery
the other day, and the doctor found the cancer has spread to the lymp nodes
and peural. Her surgeon basically gave up, saying surgery is no longer an
option, and probably she only has 6 months to live. He closed her up without
doing much. I'm also aware that this type of cancer is not responding very
well to chemotherapy or radiation therapy. I am not ready to give up yet. So
I'm here looking for suggestions desperately, to fight against this cancer.
I have the following questions:

1. Is there any new {*filter*} or procedures out there that could fight this type
of cancer?
2. Do you know any doctors that I can turn to for further suggestions?
3. Do you know of any people who have fought against the same type of cancer
and have some experience that they would like to share with us?

I would appreciate very much if you would answer any of the above questions,

I just heard a few days ago, that a place in Canada is doing clinical trials on
giving some form(s) of immunizations to boost the immune system to give the body
a better chance at fighting the spread and they specifically mentioned lung
cancer.
Sorry, I don't know the name of the doctors/hospital.  It was just a brief
"news" item and somewhere in S.W. Ontario (Canada), I believe. Quality of life
would be an issue too, depending on your mother's Stage, type of lung cancer and
complications, which the "news" item didn't cover.  Perhaps someone else here
knows more

who gave up, your oncologist or surgeon/surgical onco?

you should go to the best multidisciplinary cancer center you can get to.
eg., memorial sloan kettering or md anderson would be ideal.

once there you can ask about doublet vs. triplet chemo regimes, possibly
with RT or some sort of investigational ablation, the possibility of a
neoadjuvant chemo/RT approach, and about investigational {*filter*}, especially
iressa and imc-225, mAbs, vaccines, etc., all of which are in early stage
clinical trials.
