would suggest codeine linctus first 10mls three times a day
or mathadone liquid.
in inpatient facility or under quidance nebulised lignocaine is very
effective at suppressing cough but knocks out the{*filter*}reflex for 1 1/2 hours
so can't drink for this period, so better given just before bed
