 Dukes B Colorectal Cancer-Help Requested

My 58 year old mother was recently diagnosed with Dukes B Colorectal
cancer.  The surgery was successful and a 2 cm tumor was removed from
the inner wall of her colon.  She visited an Oncologist who suggested 4
weeks of radio therapy(daily) and 52 weeks of chemotherapy(weekly) 5FU.

Will this reduce the risk of recurrence?  Are there other treatments?
Are there other combinations of chemo that are better for this type of
treatment?  If she does nothing is there a greater probability of
recurrence?

Thanks for your support
Steve

Steve, I'm a little surprized that they are recommending such
agressive treatment for only a B stage. What the tumor below the
peritoneal reflection? The location makes a difference in terms
of radiation therapy. I'd be interested in what Dr. C. has to
say, too...H2
