Have testicular cancer, am I on right course?
: Hello,
:
: Four weeks ago, a tumor was discovered in one of my {*filter*}.
: The testis and surrounding {*filter*} vessels and vas were removed.
: The pathology of the tumor was sensinoma only, with surrounding
: lymphoid inflammation. {*filter*} testing showed no evidence of
: "markers."
:
: A subsequent CT scan of the pelvis, abdomen, and chest revealed
: nothing abnormal, and no indication of problems in the lymphatic
: system.
:
: Beginning this week, I'm to receive radiation treatments (2500-
: 3000 rad) in the abdomen and lower chest to head off anything that
: got into the lymphatic system. Planning for that included a
: simulation involving Xrays and a second CT scan.
:
: I'm 43 years old. I've been told by my doctors that at this
: point, I can expect a 95-97% cure probability. Followup will
: include a third CT scan in 6 months, quarterly {*filter*} tests the
: first year, every 6 months the second year, and annual chest
: X-rays.
:
: If anyone has anything to add or challenge about this treatment,
: I'd certainly appreciate hearing it.
:
: Thanks,
:

Terry,
Everything you've described sound right out of the book, the best
therpy available in 1995. You're likelihood of cure with this is very high.
Good luck!
