 Motor Neurone Disease (ALS)

Has anyone got ant 'good' news regarding this disease, i have only started
looking on these newsgroups, and would like to know if there are any
treatments/cures/plans to inject stem cells or anything else similar to the
posting on parkinsons disease.
Hope someone can post good news
Mark

Sadly there doesn't seem to be any good news yet... I too keep looking as
motorneurone runs in my late mother's side of the family and guess who's her
oldest offspring?

Well, what about Steven Hawking? He has had ALS for over 25  years and is still living. I think he knows something but won't tell because the medical establishment would hassle him.

Your comment makes no sense whatsoever. Stephen Hawking has survived ALS because he has made use of (and could afford!) every possible technological device to accommodate the ravages of this disease. The {*filter*} theory about hidden cures for ALS is ridiculous. There would be enormous profit for the medical and pharmaceutical worlds when a cure is finally discovered. The absence of such a cure spawns all sorts of speculation. It takes considerable courage to deal with this disease. {*filter*} theories don't help us much and can deflect our attention away from making the accommodations we need to as the disease progresses.

Thank you, Loris, for this post. I share the ideas you have
put forth concerning Stephen Hawking. As for James Martin, I
have survived 15 years with ALS and have no secret except for
the power of thought. I have a friend, Keith Gossett, who has
survived 23 years with ALS. Keith and I both still walk
without aid and we still talk. He has the same power of
thought that I and all of us have. That power is the thoughts
we have about ourselves, others and the world about us. James,
here is the link to a story about Keith and me:
