I wonder how much the ALSA and MDA (and others) spend on salaries. These
organizations have been around for a long time and so far have given us nothing
as far as a cure. Isn't that the goal? If I had a staff that did not produce,
they would be replaced. I understand that these are not the people who are doing
the research, but they could implement guidelines for their research funding. I
think that to receive funding there should be some kind of agreement that states
that all data will be available to all other researching parties that the ALSA
is funding. There should also be a group of medical researchers whose sole task
is to determine how the data from a research project relates to or doesn't
relate to other data from ALSA sponsored research. If a relationship is found
then a group meeting would be required of all the involved researchers with the
ALSA people there to explain it and to jointly determine the next course of
action. Do you see where this is going? To me it just seems that they are all
off doing their own thing.
Has anyone ever really looked at the ALSA newsletter?
