 New discoveries at Chalcatzingo
Listeros,

A new altar and stele have been found at Chalcatzingo in Morelos dating back to the Olmec period, between 800-500 BCE. Almost a year ago, a striking Olmec style 3 cats bas relief was found at the site from the same time period. (See URL below);

A multiple burial was also found with ceramic offerings. 2 individuals were found in a context which suggests re-burial, perhaps to dedicate the new structure. Obsidian cores were found at a 3rd spot in a residential unit at the same Olmec time period. Obsidian is rare in this area so the cores must have been brought there. Lots of obsidian flakes are also there, suggesting this was an obsidian workshop.

INAH has the report here (in Spanish);
