Dr. Fawks:  Thank you for posting the following statement:

"fashionable treatments are done in big cities before they are
PROVEN"......

Based on this BRAVE and HONEST statement...I wished I had lived in Kansas
and seen you for consultation..........apparently all of that dust did NOT
blurr your vision, morales and professional ethics.  GOOD FOR YOU. .

Thanks for posting TRUTH.

P.S.  In the 75 hours of continuing education, was TMD addressed? If so,
could you share with us some of the data.  (Thanks)

TMD has been addressed at many continuing ed. seminars.  I cannot
quote "data" as such.  I listen, make notes of specifics, and try and
find the right treatment modalities to follow.  For me that has been a
very conservative approach to TMD.  If it is a serious case, I refer
them to specialists who also treat conservatively (I don't know anyone
around that doesn't).  I am not a "TMD expert".  I don't "look" for
TMD in every patient who comes in the door.  I assess jaw "function"
and address any issues limiting function or causing pain, but I do not
diagnose everyone with a click or pop as having TMD.  The TMJ is a
"sloppy" joint.  It has a lot of quirks and periods of disfunction in
many people that are temporary and do not need intervention.  Why add
to the problem?  That's what every CE course has told me and I believe
it.
