African American dentists?
Not that this will help a lot, but in my class of 160 students, there
was one black male and one black female (UMKC, 1979).
One story with that was when we were seniors and the supply companies
would sponsor trips to the Chicago Mid-winter meeting. We all road up
on AmTrac and stayed in the same old down-town hotel. Anyway, we had to
pick room-mates. I didn't have one picked out and the pres. of the
class came to me and said that Arthur wanted to go (the one black male),
but didn't have a room-mate. I said to tell him that he has one now
(me). Later that day Arthur found me and said, "Brunker told me you
could use a room-mate in Chicago." I said, "Yeah, I haven't paired up
with anyone yet". Then he asked me a question that has stuck with me
for 22 years,
"You really don't mind?"
I saw him at our 20th reunion and he is doing great somewhere in Mississippi.
Best wishes,
