 Orthodontic Problem

I had my braces removed 3 months ago.  I have a "suck down" retainer on
top which does not cover #2 and #15.  I have a bonded lower retainer.
My bite feels comfortable while wearing the retainer but very
uncomfortable when I remove it to eat.  The only way I can describe it
is that it feels like I'm striking hard and high on the back molars on
one side.  The lower molar (#31) was quite painful for a month after
removal of the braces.  My orthodontist has offered to adjust my bite if
it continues to bother me.  I've had this done before as part of TMJ
treatment and don't want to have it done again if there are other
options.  My questions are...should I worry about an uncomfortable bite
at this point?  Would a different type of retainer allow my bite to
adjust on its own?  I should mention I got a Targus Vectrus (sp?)crown
and Maryland bridge right after the braces were removed...for missing
and pegged laterals.  Protection of these crowns could be the reason for
the "suck down" retainer instead of the one with a wire as originally
planned.  I am a middle aged {*filter*}.

Think about another adjustment.

Probably not.

For most {*filter*}s, a suck down is easier to wear than a traditional retainer.
You need something done to make your teeth fit more evenly.  Talk with your
orthodontist about choices.
