can molar extraction change my bite?

can molar extraction change my bite?

had the  1st molar on bottom right extracted on 2/2/06, 9 days ago.

around 5 days after the extraction i started to notice that I pinch on the
inside of my upper cheek.Never had this before.!

Q= Did my bite change?
i never had  this before.

Also I still have the upper right wisdom tooth where this new pinching is
now occurring .
during my exam I was told by my dentist I should have it extracted because
this top wisdome tooth is dropping because the wisdom tooth below it is
long gone, But its not a priority now. and theres no discomfort, pinching
or anything, so OK Ill wait a while.

So now i have this lower right  molar extracted. the before this
extraction of the 1st lower right molar , there wasnt any pinching
anywhere in my mouth, I mean it never ever pinched the cheek before the
extraction of the this tooth that i just had done.. .

Im thinking that my bite has changed some since this molar extraction,
just 9 days ago.

Maybe when i bit down before my bite wasnt so close together because i
would hit the molar first, therefore there wasnt any pinching from this
top wisdom tooth.

but now [maybe] my bite is closer, and now i have a pinching on my cheek,
and now the wisdom tooth that is dropping that was not a concern for 45
years is Now a priority ,because it seems to be casuing the pinching , and
it needs to be extracted to fix this problem..

so my question is....

can having a lower molar removed 9 days ago, all of a sudden cause my bite
to change and cause this pinching.?

Your symptoms indicate that the pinching is due to the loss of this
tooth.  Does this mean your bite has changed?  I don't know.  Can this
lead to further problems down the road like TMD or TMJ?  I don't know.

I hope a dental professional will comment.  If not, try this link:
www.dentistry.com.  There are professionals there that will answer your
questions respectfully and freely. (They do not remain anonymous. They
will not bash you or try to chase you away if you happen to say
something that they perceive as disrepectful or rude.)

Here is my lay opinion:

whereas before you were not.

Have you considered replacing this gap? (Bridge or implant)

>From my understanding, over time (like months to years) your teeth can

shift if this gap is not filled.  I am saying this only as an observer
as I have helped some people obtain prophylaxis extraction (those that
cannot pay for more care).  This is what the dentists have relayed to
me about molar extraction.

I am sure each case is individual however. Maybe you should ask your
attending  dentist about this?

Good luck,

to  answer you, yes the gap will be replaced with a single tooth implant,
But i just had the molar [which seems to have caused a change in my bite]
removed 9 days ago.

I agree, teeth shifting is something that will happen over time if a bridge
or implant isnt put in the place of the extracted tooth, but itll be
replaced.

its just that before the lower right molar was extracted i didnt have any
pinching of my cheek, now i do, so obviously it seems that my bite has
shifted [but probably not enough time has passed for that to happen], but
my bite being a tad lower is probably the cause, before the bite probably
hit the molar, now the bite is a little lower, and causes this pinching .

thanks.

im gonna go to that other site too.
