local anesthesia: My chin still frozen after 45 hours

Hi,
I went for deep DENTAL cleaning  on my right lower side and the doctor
froze with local anesthesia.  Although 80% of the anesthesic affect is
gone but my lower right chin is still numb.  As of now.. it has been
45 hrs since I had anesthesia..
I have no knowledge of any ill effects of this process.. please
enlighten me about this..

Thanks,
Gary

that is an uncommon, but well known (by dentists) possible side effect
of getting numb. It may take a few months to go away.

This is more common with 4% solutions of anesthetic.
Was Ariticaine or Citanest used?

I remember my first mandibular block.  It was our classmate was Mike B., he
almost had as much fun as I did.  It was the *last time* I hit the IAV like
a laser guided needle.  IIRC he swore at me, and I smiled.  That means
instead of deposting the anesthetic right next to the nerve (desirable
result) I hit it dead center.  Temporary trauma to the main sensory nerve to
the lower jaw on that side.  He, as most, recovered without incident.

Non - dentists need to realise we were practicing on each other.  He gave me
one next.

The point is we try to come close, but sometimes are too good.
