 Why do Medical Deities write over 100 MILLION scripts for viruses every year????? http://www.***.com/ ,1791,3900,00.html EXCERPT:
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), nearly
half of the 100 million antibiotic prescriptions written by office-based
physicians each year are prescribed inappropriately for colds, coughs and
other viral infections against which they have no effect.
This is real Health Fraud.

Why do Medical Deities write over 100 MILLION scripts for viruses every year????? It's worse than fraud, it's a tragedy. But I doubt it qualifies legally as fraud. You most realize that if a patient suffers harm as a result of delay in treating a bacterial infection pending results of culture and sensitivity that the physician is legally culpable. Do you have any suggestions to aid the situation? Steve

Why do Medical Deities write over 100 MILLION scripts for viruses every year????? I think sometimes it might be the patients who push for antibiotics. I seem to know people who think you always go to the dr.and take something when you get sick, rather than just riding out a cold or the flu with aspirin and nose drops. What if the a majority of the medical establishment just does the best it knows
how at any given time? What could dentists have done before there were
replacements to amalgam? Just let people's teeth rot out?
Sincerely asking: Are PFM's considered toxic now, too?

Why do Medical Deities write over 100 MILLION scripts for viruses every year????? Of course the patients push for antibiotics, or physicians imagine that's what they want. Of course, the doctor is supposed to prescribe treatment, not the patient. If the patient prescribes antibiotics, the doctor is acting as a drug pusher. Of course, if you believe silver amalgam is as dangerous as some say, allowing teeth to rot out is vastly preferable to having your teeth restored. But plenty of people let their teeth rot without any amalgam phobia. Perhaps people forget that caries is a disease, and deserves to be treated. Steve

"prescribe" it ... i doubt it

bias here:
But I think the term "Medical Deities" shows extreme bias. Would you rather
there were no doctors/dentists? Don't you think probably a good portion of
those people go into it out of genuine concern for other people rather than
solely their own pocketbooks? Not all of course, but at least half, I'd think!
Maybe I've been spoiled by having mostly good, caring doctors and a good
dentist. I've been to my dentist for over twenty years. I don't think at all
he'd knowingly use a toxin on me or other patients.I think he probably did what
was standard accepted procedure when necessary. I'm sure if it turns out silver
fillings are harmful he'll ask to replace them. And he didn't put the cavities
in my teeth - I did.
It just seems to me, either extreme is wrong: ALL doctors are evil OR ALL
doctors are good.

the point is ... they are mortals ... fallible and human ... not deities

It's good not to see doctors as gods. They're not. Being considered that is probably a big burden on them in someways.It's not good for doctors OR patients to think doctors are gods. Would it surprise me if some big marketer out there turned out to have hidden dangers of a substance for profit? Not at all. I don't think pharmaceutical companies are really out for my good. But I do think some doctors and dentists are. Do I think all individual dentists knowingly used toxins on their patients? No, I don't think so. Someday, hopefully, chemo will be a thing of the past. But for a while, maybe it was all cancer patients had. Will I be upset if I find out my mouth is loaded with toxins? You bet. WIll I hold it against my dentist? Nope. pharmaceutical companies who ARE working to make patients' lives better. In
EVERY industry, there's good and bad.

Why do Medical Deities write over 100 MILLION scripts for viruses every year????? Plus, IF doctors consider themselves "deities" (which most of them don't, I
bet), aren't we patients partly to blame? We put them in a position where they
are not allowed normal human mistakes. Patients are awfully quick to sue. I'm
not talking about "hacks" here. I'm talking about a dr. doing his/her best, but
ANY procedure on a human body would carry risk, I would think.
