Wisdom tooth: crown vs. extraction

 Wisdom tooth: crown vs. extraction

I have a wisdom tooth that already has a filling and has surface
decay. The dentist says I can have it crowned or pulled. According to
him it is in a useful position for chewing.

Should I go ahead and have him crown it or should I get it ripped out?
Would my teeth move around if it's pulled? Can the wisdom tooth be
used to anchor future bridgework? Other issues?

Thanks,

How about a bonded composite restoration? Newer techniques allow
dentists to restore teeth quite conservatively.

What that means is many teeth can be restored without crowns and with
a much less expensive composite material which actually holds the
tooth together. This of course, it up to your dentist!

This is considered cosmetic dentistry,  and saves valuable tooth
structure!
