 Tooth abscess to brain abscess

Hello,

4 or 5 months ago I develloped an abscess in my tooth. My dentist was to
prescribe me antibiotics, but I did not take them (mix up at pharmacy). A
month ago I finally got a root canal(1/2 is done... remaining to be done
this monday). Now, I have been having headaches for about a month or so
now.... The pain is mostly on the back of my head, neck or scalp (tingling
on scalp), but not severe...
Could the abscess from my tooth have gone to my brain (cerebral abscess)? If
so, what are the steps in which this would happen? Someone told me that my
throat would get swollen first, then it would go to my head (not directly to
my head).

Have you seen this happen before? A older dentist friend told me it was
extremely uncommon (he never heard it happen personally) And that the
abscess would have develloped in throat beforehand.

How would this devellop? Would infection occur somewhere else
beforehand...like in throat? What would specific symptoms be?

My dentist xrayed me after root c{*filter*}& said everything was fine. Would this
show up on Xray?

Keep in mind my abscess began in end of December and the swelling had gone
down about 2 to 3 weeks later... with some minor discomfort until root c{*filter*}
in March. Second part of root c{*filter*}is tomorrow.

thank you for your time.

This is pretty worrisome.

One does not do "research" on hack web pages.  (Unless one's  research
subject is "Hack Web Pages" but that would be a whole different deal.)

One's opinion is just that. We all know that the *establishment*  considers
anything they don't preach to be hack. One can do much research right on the
net. Also by reading books.

First; I am not a member of the dental, medical or scientific
"establishment".  If you made the slightest bit of sense you would have me
firmly on your side.  You haven't yet.

However; I AM something of an amateur academic.  As such, I have some
pretty specific ideas about what constitutes good research and I think I
know it when I see it.  Citing undocumented opinion from someone's personal
web page would not be acceptable even in a junior high school research
paper.

Please Jan; go spend some time in a good library and use your computer
to visit Medline.  Take a few classes and do some writing.  Soon, you will
be embarrassed by your old stuff.  Come back when you have some real
research to support your opinion.  I, for one, will be interested to see
what you come up with.

Until then...
Vaughn

Thank you for the personal insult. I had enough sense to find my health problem
and get it fixed.

You don't like personal ancedotes. Or books written by other dentists?

There is some real research right here:

http://www.altcorp.com/amalgampage.htm

Two Ph.D chemists at the University of KY.
Have you read any of the studies? No I guess not because they are on Pub Med-
indexed on Medline.

Care to apologize now? Most of these personal insults come from those who don't
even read the websites that I do post.

Mu opinion Vaughn is based on what I have read and what I have lived through.
You just can't beat first hand experience, as in been there and done that.

But I hope you feel better in trying to belittle me.

Read more carefully.  You may not like what is there, but there is no
insult.  What I was saying is that I could possibly support you if you would
take the trouble to make a coherent argument.

Your personal ancedotes mean little by themselves.  Books can be OK.

OK; I looked.

First of all; that is just another "Hack" web page that is dedicated to
a certain point of view, even though it may have a useful link or two in it.
You are much better off using proper citation if that is the part you think
is important.
Second; that is not the web page that you offered earlier in this
thread.  That web page was even worse.

For what?  Because there are two PH.D chemists at U of KY?

Most of these personal insults come from those who don't

Several times I have tried to engage you on your loose use of language,
particularly your continual misuse of the words "research" and "lie".  Each
time I get complete dismissal, always accompanied by strange logic such as
above.  (I should apologize because there are two Ph.D chemists at U of KY.)
Yet again; I give up.

Go back to Joel, have a nice life.

Can't help noticing Joel hasn't posted all day.
So, Vaughn--what do you think is more fun--dealing with dentists or the
public?

Steve:
I think I will leave the public to you dentists.  My day job mostly has
to do with "things", not people.  I think I like that!  I imagine Joel will
be back.  This is a dull place without him.
