Fancy new toothbrushes?

 Fancy new toothbrushes?

Pardon me, I'm new here.  I've never done a Usenet search for "dental"
before.  I'm just looking for some knowledgeable help.

I just bought a new toothbrush and its package is loaded with advertising
for the great features:  coloured bristles that go white when it's kaput,
raised bristles at the tip ("power tip") to reach behind your teeth, and
this is the one that gets me, the "action cup" that "simultaneously
cleans tooth surfaces and along the gumline".  Hmmm...

The package also has the ADA stamp on it.  I'm assuming that means its
accepted, or endorsed by them.  So, how can I find out how these crazy
features came to be?  Is there a repository of research results
somewhere?  Does the ADA have a web site?

As I am not a frequent visitor to this newsgroup, please reply to
directly by email, if possible.  Thanks.
