I met someone at a{*filter*}tail party in 1972 and, upon finding
out that I am a dentist, she asked me a question.
The answer: Salt water.
ME: Yip. Salt and water, warm.
ME: Three times a day, mebbe more. Gotta see.
The following week, I ran into that person again.
ME: "Hey! How'd it work out?"
"I needed to go to my dentist for my check-up. The dentist
gave me a prescription. Here it is."
Bring 32 oz. of water to a rapid boil. Gradually cool to 165
degrees and stir in 2.5 tablespoons of salt. After the
solution cools to room temerature, add one more tablespoon of
salt and stir briskly. Rinse your mouth by swishing the
solution from side to side. Repeat every other hour for 3
days.
I read it three times. I stared in disbelief.
ME: What'd this cost (getting inquisitive)?
"$35. plus the regular visit."
ME: That's it, eh (sarcastically)?
Yep.
ME: How do you feel about that?
I am happy. The only thing is I forgot to ask is, "Do I need
to use iodized salt or not?"
Cheers,
Joel

PS- Back then, I was not yet ready for the big city. I had
just fallen off the back of the turnip truck. I still had
cornstalks sticking out of my back pocket. You know, I miss
those days!
