 Non-mint tooth paste

Help - I have severe reflux esophagitis and everytime I use tooth paste, the
mint flavor causes an excerbation.  Are there any non-mint brands
available.  I'm having difficulty finding any.  Thanks - Elliot

Tom's of Maine has (at least) 3 non-mint flavors: cinnamon for {*filter*}s, and for
kids orange and banana-strawberry.  The kid toothpastes are supposedly less
abrasive, but I don't see why you couldn't use them.

Yes, and I wish the mint ones weren't so *strong* !  I find it very difficult
to clean my teeth for as long as I am meant to as after about 30 seconds my
tongue is stinging and burning!

Does the "Tom's of Maine" toothpaste contain flouride?
Current research indicates that the main benefit of toothpaste
is the anticaries effect of the fluoride.  If a toothpaste
doesn't have fluoride, its benefits would seem to be cosmetic
at best.  (See the current issue of the ADA Journal.)

So have I, but you may be more lucky. Are you living in the USA? Then you could look for Crest Original, which has a cinnamon flavour.

Elliot, there are numerous toothpastes on the market which are flavoured
with lots of fruits, and even bubblegum, of all things. One snag; they
are usually for kids, so the degree of flouride is diminished. but
this is a small price to pay for not re painting your shirt every time you
clean your teeth. Try your local drug store, and if you have no joy, phone
the 800 number on the toothpaste pack.

Why this continuing hassle over this or that brand with this or that
flavoring? Sodium Bicarbonate (baking soda) is an excellent
dentifrice and has none of the associated components you're complaining
about. You could look it up. Try it and see. Good luck and keep smilin'
