 Local Anesthesia

I'm 25 years old and have had braces for about three months. I have been told
I will need four extractions (2 upper bicuspids and 2 lower molars). I chose
my ortho after three consultations, and they all agreed on this step so I'm
comfortable with its necessity, however I do have questions about the
procedure.  I've never even had a cavity and my only other extraction was a
primary canine that was fractured in an accident.  That extraction was done
with nitrous oxide by a general dentist.  My current dentist does not use
nitrous and indicated a local was normal procedure. Since wearing the
separators and braces, the designated teeth are not tightly wedged and I
never really had tight contacts to begin with.  If I'm not nervous about the
procedure and reasonably comfortable with my dentist (I've only been to him
twice) will this be sufficient?  What's the norm?  My ortho also recommended
another dentist who will use Nitrous if requested, but generally only
administers a local, as well.

Thanks, Tanya :-#

 Local Anesthesia
The procedures you have described are usual and customary.  Before you
have it done, ask for another consultation with your Orthodontist or his
staff.  Be sure you completely understand all possible complications.
Ask your Orthodontist to recommend the Dentist or {*filter*}Surgeon that will
be best for you.  Good Luck, Happy Smiles....Dr. Paul Ouellette,
