 Love - what is Love?

Quote:
> Love - what is Love?

The Holy Spirit guides me to write the following...

There are two kinds:

(1) Love from others.

(2) Love from GOD.

The former is like regular water that after drinking, one will still
become thirsty again.

The latter is our LORD's living water that after drinking, one will
never thirst again.

"...whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst.  Indeed, the
water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to
eternal life." -- LORD Jesus Christ (John 4:14)

Love of either kind holds everything in the universe together and feeds
our souls keeping our souls from thirsting and dying.

However, GOD's love is the living water that our LORD told the
Samaritan woman about by Jacob's well (John 4:10).

This was what the Samaritan woman needed because the love she received
from her many male partners left her thirsty.

LORD Jesus Christ is the Source of this living water.  HE is the Fount
of living water.

Christ Jesus as the Son of GOD is the Heart of GOD.

Just as our hearts are our source of love for others, Christ Jesus is
GOD's source of love for us.

When we give GOD our love, we are giving HIM our firstfruits from our
hearts.

Our sinful nature would have us be selfish and not give our love to GOD
and others but to hoard it for our souls.

Indeed, before being reborn of water (living water) and the Holy
Spirit, before drinking our LORD's living water, the amount of love in
our hearts was finite.

We would have run out ! ! !

WIthout the Holy Spirit, your question would have been unanswerable.

Quote:
> Is love an emotion?

No.

Quote:
> A feeling of well-being?

No.

Quote:
> Or is it more?

It is something else.  See above.

Quote:
> What is it for different people?

No.

Quote:
> Do they all agree on what it is?

Most don't realize what love is.

Those of this world define love is its shortsighted terms ...

"Love is a many-splendored thing."

Quote:
> What is God's love?

See above.

It is Christ Jesus' living water.

Quote:
> What does it mean for us and our lives?

See above.

It is GOD's gift of eternal life.

Quote:
> "I love you" - the term can get an inflationary touch if used all the
> time and like hollow shell.

Yes, if one is without GOD's love.

Quote:
> For what reasons do people love others?

By choice through the free will that GOD has generously given each of
us to obey HIM.

Quote:
> For what reasons would they love God?

By choice through the free will that GOD has generously given each of
us to obey HIM.

May our LORD's peace be with you, dear sister Vera.

Without the LORD, your beliefs are meaningless (Ecclesiastes).

A firm grasp on reality obviates the need for belief.

Without beliefs there is no grasp of reality.

"There are many participating in these usenet newgroups whose hearts
are
black with hate and nearly completely devoid of love.  In their hatred,

they latch themselves onto us, the brethren of Christ, in a desperate
attempt to drain us of the love that we have in our hearts.

This is why many of us feel the need to take a break from our
interactions with you and your ilk in order for our supply of love to
regenerate.  The closer our walk with Christ Jesus, the quicker our
hearts refill with HIS love. "

May GOD continue to heal your heart, dear neighbor.

If you believe that, you'll believe shite is chocolate.

You especially.

You have no real love for real people, only emptiness and needfulness.
Your confession to such is in this thread.

No.  Wouldn't be able to pray for you if this were the case.

Hardly.

Yes.  The closer walk and no break has been up to me :-)

Not to the discerning.

The light of the truth burns the creatures of darkness who are drawn to
it.

This light bears no malice to anyone.

Fair comment about credulity, in fact.

Unsolicited prayer is contempt.

Who would Jesus treat with contempt?

Thank you for admitting that your beliefs are untrue, and your prayers
insincere.

I did not use the word 'in'. This gives the sentence a different
meaning, the stops indicate that the sentence is incomplete, the rest
of it is clear to the genuinely discerning (not you).

Four letter words about bodily functions especially when misspelled do
little for your credibility.
